One of the most common procedures an oral surgeon performs is tooth extraction (removal). There are many reasons why a tooth may need to be extracted, such as caries (dental decay) infection or a break in the tooth.
This involves removing the fibrous band of tissue that attaches your tongue to the floor of your mouth (lingual frenum) or the band of tissue that attaches your top lip to your gums (labial frenum).
This involves removing lumps like polyps or partial removal of lesions for diagnosis (biopsy). Polyps are benign lesions in the mouth that are frequently seen and caused by chronic irritation.
This involves removing lumps like polyps or partial removal of lesions for diagnosis (biopsy). Polyps are benign lesions in the mouth that are frequently seen and caused by chronic irritation. This is done under local anaesthetic (injections in the gum), and dissolving stitches or cautery (heat to seal the blood vessels) are used to help the area heal. All lesions removed are sent to a histopathologist for microscopic examination and a diagnostic report.
“I have worked with Arna for several years now and I have learnt so much from her. Her surgical skills and clinical experience are second to none. She has a calm and caring manner with her patients, and is a fantastic clinician to work alongside. Should my wisdom teeth start giving me problems there is no question I would go straight to Arna!”
"I have had the pleasure of working with Arna for many years. We first met in the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Department at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton 2007. Here working as an Associate Specialist she taught me; a Senior House Officer how to take out teeth. Fast forward 17 years she continues to provide me support when ever I should need it. She is an incredibly knowledgeable and capable surgeon with a wealth of experience. Her patient manor is exceptional. She is a valued member of our team who cares that our patients have the best treatment outcome as possible.
If I or my family were to ever need to have an oral surgery procedure I would ask her to do it."
