Polyps in the mouth are common, They are benign swellings that arise usually due to chronic irritation. They can become annoying and are simply removed under local anaesthetic.
Papillomas are also common in the mouth and are also easily removed under local anaesthetic.
There are a number of lesions that can arise from the soft tissues in the mouth many of these being benign and harmless. It is therefore entirely the patients choice as to whether they would like them removed or not. Some situations occur where it is not possible to confirm a diagnosis by simply looking at them and so a biopsy is required.
